Uganda Cranes will take on Algeria in the Group F of the 2023 AFCON Finals qualifying at Japoma Stadium, Douala in Cameroon on Sunday evening.
It is a must win game for the Uganda Cranes as they aim to progress to the continental showpiece in Ivory Coast.
Milutin Sredojevic alias Micho’s charges are currently third on Group F log with four points same as East African neighbours Tanzania who welcome Niger.
Algeria have already qualified for the finals with maximum points in the group.
Micho believes that the senior players will be crucial to keep off pressure over the young ones if the Cranes are to maximize points against Algeria
“We are looking at factors that will help us get results on Sunday against Algeria.”
It is important to keep pressure off the young players and plan on how to secure the best by performing as a team. The senior players will be crucial.”
Said Micho
Cranes Captain Emmanuel Okwi knows the task at hand but expects the team to prevail
“We know how big this game is against Algeria.
We want to get a good result on Sunday.
It won’t be easy but we shall fight for the three points.
We need the usual support from our fans and people back home.” Said Okwi
Rogers Mato, Emmanuel Okwi, Fahad Bayo and Farouk Miya are expected to light up the Cranes attack.
It remains to be seen if the North African side will name a strong side with the likes of Manchester City’s treble winner Riyad Mahrez and West Ham’s Said Benrahma.
The two sides have faced off 14 times in across all competitions with both managing five wins apiece and drawing the remaining four.
Victory will see the Cranes move closer to securing a place in Ivory Coast. They will end their qualification campaign against Niger.
