She Cranes have progressed to the second preliminary round of the 2023 Netball World Cup after beating Trinidad and Tobago 74-34 on Sunday in Cape Town.
This is Uganda’s second win the Showpiece in Cape Town following the win over Singapore.
At the break, She Cranes skipper and goal attacker Irene Eyaru had scored 17 goals from 18 attempts, goal shooter Mary Nuba had made 11 goals (12 attempts) in 15 minutes.
In total, Mary Nuba made 35 goals from 36 attempts while Margret Baagala registered 39 assists.
Uganda will face off with host nation South Africa, fourth ranked Jamaica and Wales in the second phase with the top two progressing to the semis. In the second round Uganda will first play fourth ranked nation Jamaica on Monday.
