South Sudan name SC Villa striker in squad for double header against Uganda

South Sudan head coach Nichola Dupuis has named a 26-man squad for the AFCON 2025 qualifier double header against Uganda.

The tactician has included SC Villa’s Francis Onekalit in the squad for the two games.

Onekalit has started all the three league games for the Uganda Premier league champions SC Villa this term.

The named South Sudan squad also includes over ten players who have Ugandan origins these include NEC FC trio of Atendele Geriga, Gaddafi Wahab and Rashid Okocha.

Emmanuel Loki, Tito Okello, Rashid Toha and Alfred Leku are the other players of Ugandan origins who have been called by Dupuis.

Meanwhile, NEC FC’s Joseph Dhata misses out due to injury.

Uganda will host South Sudan under the floodlights of Namboole on Friday, 11th before their return fixture in Juba Stadium on Tuesday, October 15 in group K.

Uganda currently top group K with four points, same as second placed South Africa. Congo are third with three points and South Sudan bottom with no point in their opening two fixtures.
