Maroons FC players boycott training over unpaid salaries

Maroons FC players are on a strike over unpaid four month arrears just days to their Uganda Premier league game against champions SC Villa.

Swift Sports Uganda understands that only twelve players turned up for Monday’s training sessions at Luzira

According to reliable sources, some of the players who missed training are not ready to return until the issue is resolved by the club management.

Sources also reveal that key players in Fred Amaku, David Ndihabwe, defender Patrick Bayiga, Abraham Tusubira, Darius Ojok, Jacob Okao who were instrumental for thr club last term didn’t extend their contracts due to financial issues at the club.

Maroons FC have not had an impressive start to the 2024/25 campaign, having only managed just one win, drawn two and lost as many in their opening five games.

They will next host SC Villa on Thursday who surrendered a 2-goal lead against Soltilo Bright Stars last week.
