Jocelyn Ucanda will serve as the new Netball Uganda President after being declared unopposed.
Ucanda took over helms on Saturday during an elective Annual General Meeting at Copper Chimney in Lugogo.
The development concludes the challenging administrative period that Netball has been facing for the previous years.
Last year, the Federation had its certificate of recognition withdrawn by the National Council of Sports due to governance and leadership issues.
The Netball leadership challenges started when former President Sarah Babirye accused NCS General Secretary Dr. Bernard Ogwel of demanding Sh40m kickback from the Sh100m allocated to Netball Uganda for the Male Netball Championship in South Africa and the She Cranes’ Pent Series in Namibia. Babirye and her executive refused to give Ogwel the kickback.
A Normalisation Committee that was established by the World Netball has been in charge of the Netball activities in the country with Moses Mwase serving as it’s head.
The organization has also transited from Uganda Netball Federation to Netball Uganda.
Meanwhile, the new Executive team has William Bwambale and Richard Muhumuza as vice presidents for administration and technical matters, respectively.
Aminah Mande has taken on the role of Secretary, while Yusuf Kamulegeya will serve as Treasurer.
