Assistant Referee Peter Kabugo has passed away during the SC Villa 5-0 thrashing of UPDF FC at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku on Friday.
Kabugo collapsed in the 73rd minute after SC Villa’s Charles Lwanga had scored a fifth goal.
Players and officials rushed to the secure after seeing Kabugo lying down on the far side of Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku .
He was rushed to the nearby hospital in an ambulance where his death was confirmed.
Fourth official Joshua Duula took over his responsibility and as the game approached the end news regarding Kabugo’s death was confirmed.
Meanwhile, Charles Lwanga netted four goals as SC Villa returned to winning ways to cool pressure on head coach Morley Byekwaso. Aggrey Kirya had earlier in the game scored in his own net.
