Over 150 Golfers to take part in 26th edition of Kinyara Golf Tournament

The 26th edition of the Kinyara Golf Tournament has been launched on Tuesday, 12th November at Uganda Golf Club in Kampala.

The tournament will take place on 21st-23rd November at Kinyara Golf Club, Bujenje in Masindi.

This tournament will be contested in medal play format with over 150 golfers set to take part.

The Kinyara Open Golf Tournament is a partnership between Kinyara Sugar Limited and Insurance companies (ICEA LION, Liaison Group, UAP Old Mutual, Sanlam and MUA).

The official launch was graced by Kinyara Sugar Limited chief marketing manager Sekhar Veedhi, public relations officer Francis Mugerwa, Kinyara club captain Moses Enzama, Sarah Siryowe and several representatives from various insurance companies.

“This is the 26th edition of this annual event that has been instrumental towards the development of golf in the country. As Kinyara Sugar we are elated to be supporting golf and other sports events in the country.” Said Veedhi

Moses Enzama, Kinyara Golf Club Captain thanked the partners for the support

“I take this opportunity to thank all our partners for the tremendous support. This year we promise to have a better event since there are lots of prizes to be won.”

Professionals and Amateur golf players will contest between 21st to 22nd November while the Subsidiary Categories are slated for 23rd, November.

This time Amateur golfers in the main gross category will play for 54 holes and the top five will contest for Shs4M.

The professionals will play 36 holes (2 rounds) and will battle for a cash kitty worthy Shs10M.

Trophies, prizes as Television set, Refrigerator and other goodies are set to be rewarded to the outstanding golfers.

Joseph Cwinya-ai is the reigning champion and will be seeking for unprecedented fourth title but will face stiff competition from Joseph Kasozi, Joseph Reagan Akena, Titus Okwong and Aggrey Mutaka.
