Kenyan Giants Gor Mahia have part ways with their head coach Leo Neiva following a poor string of results.
The development was confirmed by the club on Wednesday in a statement which states,
“We hereby announce the end of engagement with Coach Leo Neiva. We truly thank him for his services and appreciate the times he spent at the club.” Confirmed a statement from Gor Mahia
Neiva was appointed as head coach of the 30-time Kenya Premier league champions in July replacing former Uganda Cranes head coach Johnathan McKinstry, whose contract had expired.
His assistant coaches Zedekiah Otieno and Michael Nam will oversee the club in the interim.
He leaves the defending champions languishing in 12th place in this season’s FKF Premier League table after six matches.
The Brazilian has overseen 13 matches, winning only three matches, drawing the same number and losing seven across all competitions.
The Brazilian coach was notably in charge of Gor Mahia during their Caf Champions League exit in the second preliminary round after a 6-0 aggregate defeat to Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
Gor Mahia will return to action in theMashemeji Derby when they will face off with AFC Leopards on November 24th after the international break.
