NEC FC will be seeking to reclaim the top when they host Soltilo Bright Stars on Wednesday under the floodlights of Lugogo.
Hussein Mbalangu coached side are currently second on the Uganda Premier league table with 23 points.
The Soldier Boys will be without suspended duo of Enock Ssebaggala and James Jarieko but will be boosted by the return of defenders Gideon Odong and Patrick Bayiga.
They come into this contest following a 1-1 stalemate with URA FC in their previous game.
Victory for Mbalangu’s charges will see them leapfrog Vipers at the top with the Venoms set to welcome BUL FC on Saturday at Kitende.
For Bright Stars, they are currently at the foot of the table with just six points after 11 games.
They lost 2-1 to leaders Vipers SC in their previous league game.
The two sides played out to stalemates in both of their meetings last season, goalless at Lugogo and 1-1 at Kavumba.
