The 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament is set to be postponed to August, 2025.
The tournament was scheduled to be Co-hosted in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania from February 1st to 28th of the same month.
According to reports, the tournament will be postponed due to lack of infrastructure, facilities, stadiums and inability to get the full set of teams for the championship.
It was also established that after the final CAF inspection, one of the East African Nations to host the event was not ready to stage the competition by February. The Confederation of African Football is yet to confirm the development .
However the CHAN Draw will go ahead on Wednesday, 15th January as earlier planned with former Uganda Cranes midfielder Hassan Wasswa along with Kenya’s McDonald Mariga and Mrisho Ngasa of Tanzania conducting the draw.
The CHAN tournament is a competition that features only players from the domestic leagues. Senegal are the reigning competition champions.
