The Buganda Kingdom has confirmed that this year’s Kabaka Birthday Run will take place on Sunday, 6th April 2025.
The event is organised annually as a fan run, it is arguably the largest of such events on the continent, attracting over 110,000 participants.
Since its inception in 2014, the annual Kabaka Birthday Run has continued to rally Ugandans to join in celebrating the Kabaka’s life and to also support efforts to reduce the burden of disease within their communities. Having achieved tangible results against sickle cell disease and fistula, the past two editions have focused the fight on ending the spread of HIV/AIDS, with the goal of achieving an AIDS-free future by 2030.
The event is run in 3 distance categories of 5km, 10km & 21km, where entrance is tagged on purchase of the running kit.
While the main event starts at the Lubiri palace, mini events are organized across the whole Kingdom and in the Diaspora for those who cannot make it to the main event.
This year, His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II will be celebrating his 70th birthday on April 13th. Airtel Uganda, Centenary Bank are some of the biggest companies that sponsor the event.
