Wakiso Giants came from a goal down to hold SC Villa to a 1-1 draw at the Kabaka Kyabaggu in Wakiso.

The result implies SC Villa’s search for a win away from home this season continues having drawn thrice and lost five times in the eight away games so far.

Aslam Semakula gave the Jogoos a first half lead with a header from David Owori’s well delivered cross in the 23rd minute of the game.

Wakiso Giants fought back and got a much needed equalizer in the 61st minute through striker Hudson Mbalire.

Mbalire tapped home from close range after the Villa goalkeeper Norman Angufindru failed to deal with a teasing cross.

SC Villa youngster Andrew Otim had a glorious opportunity to restore the lead from a James Alitho error but failed to hit target as the latter recovered to block the goal bound shot in the 74th minute.

Fazil Tumwine, acquired from Vipers on loan, also had a chance to win all three points for the Purple Sharks but his effort missed target by inches.

New signings Moses Oloya and Ashiraf Mulindi came off the bench to earn debuts for Wakiso Giants and SC Villa respectively.

Wakiso Giants remained 14th on the table with 13 points while SC Villa are 8th place with 21 points from 16 games played.

Villa will host rivals Express in their next game next week while Wakiso Giants will visit Lugazi in a relegation six pointer.
