Crested Cranes goalkeeper Ruth Aturo has officially been unveiled by Tanzanian side Tausi Women FC following her departure from Kenya’s Vihiga Queens.
Aturo has been a standout performer with Vihiga Queens in the first round of the ongoing season keeping an impressive seven clean sheets in the process.
Her new side Tausi WFC, formerly known as Ukerewe Queens, is an ambitious club that competes in the second tier with hopes of earning topflight promotion.
Tausi FC recently hired Spanish coach Maria Ruiz as their new head coach coupled with a host of experienced players as their new signings.
Former Lady Doves utility player Zuena Aziz is among the eight new signings that have been unveiled by the Dar es Salaam based club so far.
Aturo who landed in Tanzania over the weekend, is expected to return to Uganda ahead the Crested Cranes double header against Ethiopia in the Women’s AFCON Qualifiers.
The lanky shot stopper ranks highly among the most decorated female players in the country since rolling off the Kawempe Muslim conveyorbelt.
Aturo played for Kawempe Muslim and UCU Lady Cardinals in Uganda, KTP Kotka in Finland and Saudi Arabia’s Al Shabab and Al Taqadoum.
She played for Vihiga Queens at the CAF Champions League CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers held in Uganda in 2023.
