KCCA FC will make a long trip to Ntungamo to take on FUFA Big League side Kaaro Karungi in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Quarterfinal on Saturday at Kyamate Stadium.
It should be remembered that ten years ago, the same venue hosted the Uganda Cup final between KCCA FC and SC Villa, a game that was surrounded by controversial refereeing decisions.
The competition is now KCCA FC’s main focus this season following their struggles in the Uganda Premier league.
They come into this contest on a poor string of results having lost their previous three league games despite the changes in the coaching staff.
Jackson Magera in his first press conference as interim coach revealed his bosses tasked him to inspire the side to Stanbic Uganda Cup glory in what has been a torturous season for the ten time competition winners.
The tactician asserted that this is their only hope for silverware this season.
“As a team, we know this is the only chance to win silverware that we are left with this season. We play at Kyamate Stadium, and we know what happened here about 10 years ago. The memories are still fresh, but well, all that is in the past.” Said Magera
Given their woeful performances in the league this term, the Kasasiro boys need to win the Stanbic Uganda and they should throw everything considering the sheer enormity and importance of it to their campaign.
Kaaro Karungi will feel that Magera’s struggling side is there for the taking and will be eyeing up a first-ever semifinal slot.
Under the stewardship of Richard Makumbi, Kaaro Karungi eliminated Karuguza United in the Round of 64, overcame Busia Young in the Round of 32, and a 3-0 shellacking of UPL side UPDF in the Round of 16.
KCCA will be without Etienne Katenga, Filbert Obenchan and Sadat Anaku due to respective injuries.
