Plascon reaffirms Support towards Masaza Cup

Plascon Brand Manager Daniel Kayongo has reaffirmed their commitment towards supporting the prestigious Buganda Masaza Cup.

This year’s championship was officially launched on Wednesday at Bulange Mengo in Kampala.

Kayongo assured the Kingdom of Plascon’s support in nurturing young athletes.

“It fills me with great pride to stand before you today as we officially launch the 2025 Masaza Cup, a tournament that embodies the spirit, talent, and unity of the Buganda Kingdom.For three consecutive years, Plascon has stood as a proud co-sponsor of this prestigious competition, and today, we reaffirm our commitment to nurturing the dreams of young athletes and celebrating the rich culture of Buganda through sports.”

Said Kayongo before adding,

“When we first partnered with Buganda Kingdom, we did so with a shared vision: to uplift communities, preserve heritage, and create opportunities for the next generation.”

The Masaza Cup is a big movement. For 18 counties across Buganda, this competition is a platform where young talents are discovered and polished many of whom have gone on to join the Uganda Premier League and even the national team, the Uganda Cranes.

The tournament creates jobs from coaches and referees to vendors and transporters. It boosts local economies and gives young people a pathway out of poverty.

Football in Buganda is more than a game it is a celebration of identity. The Masaza Cup keeps traditions alive while fostering unity among the 18 counties. Buddu are the reigning champions and will face off with record winners Gomba in the opening game on Saturday,21st June at Kitovu Sports Arena.
