Museveni to host historic 2024 CHAN team, UPL clubs at State House

The President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni together with the Minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni will host the historic 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) team at State House in Entebbe on Wednesday, September 10th 2025.

FUFA President Moses Magogo also confirmed that the President also asked to meet with the club chairmen of the top-flight division at the same function.

“The President will be meeting the CHAN team for dinner and at the same function he will also meet with UPL club chairmen at the same function.” Said Magogo who asserted that he will use this opportunity to lobby for the clubs

“We shall use every opportunity to lobby for the clubs and if given an opportunity at State House, I will present this to the President.” He added

The Uganda Cranes CHAN team made history during the tournament co-hosted in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania reaching the knockout stage for the first time in history.

Before the tournament, President Museveni through the Speaker of Parliament Hon.Anita Among pledged Shs1.2bn for every win. The Cranes managed two wins against Guinea and Niger that were crucial in sealing a place in the last eight. Uganda’s campaign ended with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Senegal last month.
