Uganda Premier League fans are planning to boycott the 2025/26 season that will be played under FUFA’s new format.
During SC Villa and KCCA FC return leg fixture in the FUFA Super 8 contest that ended in a goalless draw on Friday at Kadiba Stadium fans revealed that their latest plan will mean seats at football venues remain unoccupied for next season in protest for the newly introduced league format.
Earlier this week, FUFA confirmed that 13 clubs had agreed to proceed with the new format that will be played under three rounds.
SC Villa, Vipers SC who are the record and reigning league champions along with NEC FC were the three clubs in disagreement.
The hashtag #BoycottTheUPL has been gathering pace amongst the fans from various clubs on social media.
One fan said during SC Villa’s goalless stalemate with KCCA FC at Kadiba:
“We shall not watch any game under Premier league new format Joogos.”
The 2025/26 season slated to kickoff on 26th September is shaping up to be another campaign that will be marred with controversy.
Just like the 2012/13 season when the game two leagues were played.
One organized by the Uganda Super League Limited and the other by FUFA Super League Limited. KCCA FC won the FSL while Maroons clinched the USL but during that time some of the fans who threatened not to return to stadiums for league games and since then some have never returned.
Meanwhile, SC Villa advanced to the semifinals of the FUFA Super 8 2-1 on aggregate and will next play holders BUL FC for a place in the final.

KCCA FC on the other hand will settle for placement with Maroons FC with their game slated for Sunday, 14th September at Lugogo.
