Vipers SC booked their place in the next round of the CAF Champions League after eliminating Namibia’s African Stars 2-0 on aggregate.

The Venoms who won the first leg in Cape Town smiled to a tense 1-0 win in the return leg on Saturday evening at St.Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

Yunus Sentamu scored the all important goal in the second half of a scrappy game.

The Namibian side had two golden opportunities in the first period to level the tie on aggregate.

Both chances fell to Edmar Ronaldo Kamatuka.

The forward had goalkeeper Denis Kiggundu to beat midway in the first period but his effort went inches wide.

Moments later, he had his effort kiss the post as the first period ended goalless.

Sentamu gave the home side the lead in the 61st minute after African Stars’ defender before slotting home perfectly.

The Venoms held on to their lead, advancing to the next round 2-0 on aggregate.

They will face the winner between Zambia’s Dynamos Power or Ivory Coast’s ASEC Mimosas in the second preliminary round.
