The 2025 Buganda Masaza Cup will officially climax on Saturday, 1st November at Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo with the epic final contest between neighbours Ssingo and Buweekula.
This is the first Masaza Cup final to be held at Nakivubo since the 2013 edition when Mawokota won the title courtesy of a Farouk Miya late strike over Ssingo.
Since then, Wankulukuku, Mandela National Stadium, St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende have had the honours to host the final match of the prestigious Buganda Kingdom organized competition.
Ssingo are playing their sixth final with the previous ones coming in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018. They have lost three and won two of the last five finals with their only triumphs coming in 2015 and 2018 ironically both against Buddu.
Under the stewardship of Mityana boy Bastu Ssemuyaba along with his technical director Hussein Mbalangu they managed to top Muganzirwazza Group before eliminating Mawokota at the quarter final stage 1-0 on aggregate and a 2-1 aggregate win over Bugerere in the semis.
Ssemuyaba who replaced Hamza Lutalo at Ssingo will be aiming for a golden climax.
Felix Ssekabuuza a man with Masaza Cup experience will be seeking to become the first coach in history to lead Buweekula to the title.
Previously Buweekula has reached two finals 2012 losing to Bulemeezi 2-0 at Nakivubo and in 2021 they were again losing finalists to Buddu at Kitende.
After defying all the odds to eliminate red hot favourites Kyaggwe in Mukono in the two legged semifinal, Ssekabuuza and Buweekula believe this is their year for glory.
They finished top of Masengere group before quarterfinal victory over Busujju and a remarkable semifinal triump at Kyaggwe.
