Uganda national team captain Joseph Cwinya-ai and Meron Kyomugisha have respectively won the men’s and women’s amateur gross titles at the 27th edition of the Kinyara Golf Open.
At the event held in Masindi, Cwinya-ai recorded 214 (+1) in 54 holes to claim the title.
Abdullah Kakooza (222) and Juma Abiti (224) were second and third respectively.
The duo of Lawrence Walakira and Christopher Basaliza jointly shared fourth spot with 227 gross mark apiece.
The top cluster will share Ug.Shs 4,000,000 in cash prizes.
Meanwhile, Kyomugisha won the Women’s title with 234 (+21), beating second placed Martha Babirye (241).
2024 lady champion Lillian Koowe came third with 242 while Joyce Kisembo (256) and Julia Joan Nampewo (262) finished in the top five positions.
The top performers will share a kitty of Ug.Shs 3,000,000.
The tournament officially climaxes on Saturday with the seniors and subsidiary golfers all in action. The winners will be awarded at the grand party due at the 19th hole.
