Fred Muhumuza has officially departed Vipers SC following his appointment as Paul Joseph Put’s assistant.
Swift Sports Uganda understands that Muhumuza will now concentrate on his role as Uganda Cranes assistant. He leaves Vipers whom he joined in 2024.
He replaces Sam Ssimbwa whose spell as assistant on the senior team expired last month.
Ssimbwa was appointed as Paul Put’s immediate assistant in November 2023 but leaves the position despite the Belgian signing a new two and half year contract.
Muhumuza led Vipers to the domestic double last season alongside John Ayala Luyinda.
Muhumuza also served as a co-coach with Morley Byekwaso as Uganda reached the quarter finals of the CHAN tournament held this year.
The former SC Villa and Victors midfielder previously coached at URA FC and Bumate United as well as Tooro Province in the FUFA Drum Tournament.
Gerry Oste (Goalkeeping Coach), Denis Mathieu (Performance Coach), Frank Arthur Naudts (Fitness Coach), Jelle Sevenhant (Video Analyst 1), Hichem Boumbar (Video Analyst 2), Christian Goossens (Sports Scientist) are the other members on Paul Put’s coaching staff.
