Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC have won the race for Charles Lwanga’s signature.
Lwanga has returned to the 13-time Uganda Premier league champions whom he left in July 2023 for SC Villa.
He reunites with KCCA as a free agent following expiration of his employment contract at SC Villa.
At Villa, he won the 2023/24 league title SC Villa but opted not to extend his stay with the 17-time Ugandan champions.
During his first stint at Lugogo, Lwanga finished as the club’s top scorer in his debut campaign with 12 goals across all competitions.
“I am happy to be back, and I want to rewrite my story here. I am eager to work with the players and coaches at the club. They are top quality players here, so I expect the competition levels to be up, and I am hopeful I can achieve a lot of success with this club.”
Stanbic Uganda Cup champions Kitara were also interested in Lwanga’s signature and had tabled a two year deal for the player who has now made up his decision.
KCCA FC head coach Brian Ssenyondo believes Lwanga’s acquisation suits the club’s ambitions for next season.
“Lwanga possesses a combination of raw pace and a proven goal scoring instinct in this league. We know exactly how we want to deploy his strengths to make our front line more lethal. He understands the culture of this club, and his hunger to achieve big things aligns perfectly with our vision for the season.” Said Ssenyondo
At his new home, Lwanga joins his former teammate Elvis Ngonde who earlier this week completed a move to Lugogo on a three year deal to fill the void left by Joel Sserunjogi who signed for Vipers SC.
