Egyptian giants Al Ahly Sports Club came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over Uganda’s Kitara FC in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round at the Hoima City Stadium on Saturday.
Gaddafi Wahab gave the hosts a deserved lead on the half-hour mark.
Omar El Saaiy and Ahmed Mostafa scored in the second half to inspire the visitors to a first-leg advantage.
Gaddafi stunned the North Africans when he struck in the 30th minute after being set up by winger Martin Kizza.
El Saaiy restored parity for Al Ahly with a sensational equalizer in the 66th minute before Mostafa sealed the win from the penalty spot in the 82nd minute.
The two teams will face off in the return leg next weekend in Cairo, with the aggregate winner securing a slot in the group stage of the competition.
