FUFA suspends night games at Lugogo after KCCA-UPDF floodlights failure

FUFA has withdrawn the approval for MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo to host night matches following last Thursday’s aborted Uganda Premier League game between KCCA FC and UPDF FC.
The Kasasiro Boys’ clash against the army side failed to kick off due to failure of the floodlights.
FUFA had cleared the stadium to host matches under floodlights in September last year.
The Federation has now revoked that approval in line with the 2026 FUFA Men’s Club Licensing Regulations, which allow for further inspections and withdrawal of a licence when conditions for its issuance are no longer met.
The ban on night games at Lugogo will remain until KCCA FC rectifies the faults, with FUFA set to conduct a fresh inspection to determine if the venue is fit to host evening matches.
As a result, the UPL Secretariat has rescheduled upcoming night fixtures at the stadium to 4:00pm.
NEC FC will host Ntugasaze FC on Tuesday, while KCCA FC will face Lugazi FC on Thursday, both at MTN Omondi Stadium.
