Lavagne fails to relieve pressure as Cops frustrate Vipers at Kitende

Denis Lavagne’s future as Vipers SC head coach remains far from secure after his team were held to a goalless stalemate by struggling Police FC at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Friday.
The Venoms have registered just one home win in the four games they have hosted this campaign, ironically it came against league debutants Ntugasaze FC.
Before the goalless draw with the Cops, the reigning league champions had played out a 1-1 stalemate with Maroons at Kitende.
Lavagne’s side were hoping to build on the 5-0 thrashing of Kataka away from home but were frustrated by Matia Lule’s men.
Police had lost miserably to record league champions SC Villa at their home in Kira in their previous game but pulled off a disciplined display at Kitende to end a run of three successive defeats.
The Cops, who shipped six against the Jogoos, this time registered a clean sheet and a point away to the eight-time league champions.
Goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga and his defenders put up a defensive masterclass to deny Vipers’ attack of Usama Arafat and Gusto Mulongo which has so far netted seven league goals.
Vipers are now on 11 points in the six games they have played while Police stay 12th with 8 points in seven matches.
