Hussein Mbalangu’s UPDF FC registered their second win of the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League campaign with a 2-1 victory away to Express FC at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
Derrick Taremwa’s first-half brace inspired the army side to maximum points, while second-half substitute Henry Wamala scored a consolation for the Red Eagles.
Taremwa gave the visitors the lead in the 2nd minute to silence the home faithful, before doubling UPDF’s advantage just two minutes later to complete his brace.
Duncan Sseninde, who impressed during Express’ goalless stalemate against NEC last week, came agonizingly close to pulling one back but his effort went over the bar in the 35th minute.
Steven Yiga forced UPDF goalkeeper Shamlan Kamya into a brilliant save at the stroke of halftime to keep the visitors in a comfortable lead.
Henry Wamala, who replaced Alpha Ssali, pulled one back for Morley Byekwaso’s side after being fed by Sseninde in the 74th minute.
The army side held on despite late pressure from Express to secure a second win of the campaign and move to 9th on the 18-team table with 8 points.
Express remain on 5 points in 14th position after suffering a third defeat of the season.
