Parents have called for government intervention to save former Uganda Cranes captain Andy Mwesigwa’s Amesco High School located in Wakiso from being taken over by ABC Capital Bank.
Last month, ABC Bank records showed that Mwesigwa’s school obtained a Shs480 million term loan on a reducing balance basis.
Parents such as Nanyonjo Pascal, who have two candidates in the school, have called upon Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja to help the former Cranes skipper whose school has been supportive to them.
“We are single mothers who have been helped by Andy Mwesigwa to have children get education. It’s a pity that the school is now facing such a situation and we call upon the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja to come and help us on this horrendous situation facing the school that has been supportive to us. We are also human beings who need education for our children like any other and we call for help from the government so that we can overcome this horrible situation,” said Nanyonjo Pascal, one of the parents.
The loan schedule was created on January 2, 2020, with 16 instalments and a contractual maturity date of February 12, 2025.
The effective interest rate was 23.5 per cent, while the contractual penal interest rate was 38.5 per cent, comprising the normal 23.5 per cent interest and a 15 per cent penalty.
