SC Villa target table leadership with visit to Police FC
David GOMBE
SC Villa could move to the top of the Uganda Premier League table if they prevail over Police FC on Wednesday at Kira Road Arena.
SC Villa, who drew 1-1 with newbies Kataka FC in their previous game, are currently on 11 points, and victory today could see them go to the summit.
The Cops are currently 9th on the table with 7 points and will be seeking redemption against the Jogoos following their 3-0 defeat to Entebbe UPPC.
Villa, desperate for maximum points, are set to welcome back goalkeeper David Lukwago, forward Frank Ssebuufu and defender Geoffrey Lubangakene who were rested against Kataka following their international engagements.
Last season, Police overcame Villa with a 1-0 victory and will look up to Bedia Ikamba and Samuel Ssekamatte for inspiration.
Matia Lule’s charges will be without left back Richard Matovu who was sent off in the defeat against UPPC.
In the other game on Wednesday, Kigezi Homeboyz will entertain NEC FC at Rwamwanja Stadium.
