Vipers SC returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion after thrashing Kataka FC 5-0 at Bukedea Comprehensive School Sports Complex on Wednesday.
Under-fire head coach Denis Lavagne needed a response after the 1-1 draw against Maroons, and his side delivered with a ruthless display.
Usama Arafat was the star of the show, netting a hat-trick with goals in the 16th, 50th and 55th minutes to put the Venoms in firm control.
Farouk Miya added the fourth in the 75th minute before captain Milton Karisa completed the rout three minutes into added time.
The victory marks Vipers’ third win of the season all coming with big margins and lifts them back into contention after an unconvincing run that had left Lavagne under pressure. They are now on 10 points they have garnered in five games.
For Kataka, who came into the game seeking their maiden Uganda Premier League win after holding SC Villa 1-1 last week , it was a day to forget as they were outclassed at home.
Elsewhere, Express FC suffered a 2-1 defeat against UPDF FC at Hamz Stadium Nakivubo. Derrick Taremwa struck a brace before Henry Wamala found a consolation for the Red Eagles.
