KCCA FC have signed winger Joao Gabriel Esteves Cardoso as their first signing of the ongoing transfer window.
The Brazilian was officially unveiled by the club via a video on their social media channels on Saturday.
The South American penned a two year deal until 2025 and he becomes the first Brazilian to play for the 13 time Uganda Premier league champions.
“I have always been interested in playing in Africa, and I’ve been following KCCA FC for a while now. I’m really impressed with their style of play, and I think I can fit in well with the team. I’m also excited to experience African culture and to play in front of the passionate fans. I want to help KCCA FC win the league title.”
“I also want to make a positive impact on the team and to help them reach the next level. I think African football is on the rise. There are a lot of talented players coming out of Africa, and I think the continent is becoming more competitive. I’m excited to be a part of that growth, and I think African teams will be successful in the years to come.” Cardoso told the website
Cardoso has previously featured for both the U-17 and U-20 national Brazilian sides as well as Flamengo U-20 side.
Cardoso also played for Germany sixth-tier outfit FCA Damstadt and Cabofriense in Brazil.
Born in Brazil’s capital Rio de Janeiro on 21st August, 2001.
He joins his fellow countrymen Giancarlo Lopez Rodriguez and Luiz Otavio Santos de Araujo alias Tinga who joined Vipers SC.
Cardoso is Traguil’s first signing in the current transfer window. KCCA have already confirmed departures of players Allan Okello, Mustafa Kizza, Benjamin Ochan, Geoffrey Wasswa, Brian Majwega, Brian Kayanja, Denis Iguma, Ali Mwirusi and Brian Aheebwa.
