Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya has completed a move to newly promoted Zambia Premier league entity Trident Football club.

Kigonya signed a one year employment contract with the Zambia side.

Tanzania’s Ihefu SC together with Zambian clubs NAPSA Stars and Forest Rangers were all interested in signing Kigonya.

Kigonya is a free agent since January this year after leaving Kenyan side Sofapaka FC on mutual consent.

The move sees Kigonya return to Zambia for a second spell after having previously featured for Forest Rangers FC.

He is a former Soltilo Bright Stars and Soana FC player who also previously featured for Azam FC in Tanzania.

He was part of the Cranes squad that represented Uganda in the 2016 CHAN tournament in Rwanda and also won the 2015 CECAFA Championship in Ethiopia
