Kampala Queens got off the mark with a 1-0 win over She Corporate in the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League encounter at the MUBS Arena in Nakawa.

The victory was orchestrated by newly appointed skipper Shamirah Nalugya as early as the 6th minute.

Nalugya scored directly from a corner kick which was not well dealt with by the She Corporate goalkeeper Molly Naava.

The Queens of Soccer had their work well cut out in the second half as they managed to neutralize any threats from their rivals.

She Corporate had free-kick attempts through Titi Leticia Nakyeyune and Stella Musibika but Daisy Nakaziro was equal to the task.

Victory took the Charles Ayiekoh coached side to four points and temporarily reached the top of the table.

The other games played on the day saw Makerere University beat Tooro Queens in Fort Portal thanks to Jemimah Twesigye’s first half goal.

The game better Rines WFC and Olila High School was abandoned in the closing stages of the game with the latter contesting the referee’s decision to award Rines a penalty.

Action will continue on Sunday morning as Wakiso Hill host holders Kawempe Muslim at Kitende, She Maroons host Uganda Martyrs and Amus College host Lady Doves.
