Kawempe Muslim dominate nominees for inaugural Women Super League monthly awards

Nominees for the Coach and Player of the month awards for the month of October in the Finance Trust Bank Women Super League have been revealed.

The nominees include Kawempe Muslim trio of coach Ayub Khalifa, goalkeeper Josephine Nambuya and highly rated midfielder cum forward Agnes Nabukenya.

Ayub Khalifa who is also a favorite, will battle with Amus College WFC coach Faridah Bulega and Meddie Nyanzi of Lady Doves.

Ayub won four games in four, Bulega won seven points from four games played while Meddie Nyanzi’s Lady Doves collected eight points to sit second on the league table.

Uganda Martyrs Lubaga’s high flying utility player Angel Auki Kigongo will battle with Nabukenya and Nambuya for the player of the month award.

Nabukenya leads the scoring charts with four goals, Auki Kigongo won two player of the match accolades whereas Nambuya has four clean sheets in four games played.

The eventual winners of the awards are expected to be announced later this week with a prize of 500,000/= attached to each accolade courtesy of the league sponsors Finance Trust Bank.

It should be noted that this is the first time monthly awards have been held in Uganda’s topflight women league.
