Anwar Ntege scored the all important goal as BUL FC beat Soltilo Bright Stars 1-0 on Thursday at Najjembe in Lugazi.
This was BUL FC’s first win at home after a 1-1 stalemate with KCCA FC and 2-0 defeat to Mbarara City FC.
BUL FC have now registered three straight wins following the victories over URA FC and Kitara FC.
Ntege headed home from a perfect free kick from Nicholas Mwere in the 9th minute and his goal was enough to hand Abbey Kikomeko coached side maximum points.
Mwere nearly doubled the lead with a well struck free kick from about 30 yards but goalkeeper Shamulan Kamya pulled off an acrobatic save in the 20th minute.
Martin Aprem also had his thunderbolt strike hit the cross bar in the 74th minute while Bright Stars’ best attempt fell to Nelson Ssenkatuka who failed to find target with Joel Mutakubwa to beat in 28th minute.
The Eastern Giants move to eleven points they have garnered in seven matches and are now fourth on the log.
Bright Stars on the other hand remain winless this term and stay at the base of the Uganda Premier league table with just three points.
Defeat also puts Bright Stars coach Joseph Mutyaba under pressure having lost four games this campaign.
BUL FC will next visit struggling Mbale Heroes on Sunday while Bright Stars will welcome Wasswa Bbosa’s Kitara FC on Friday next week.
