Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Joseph Put has been praised by football fan Jerome Mugalu for guiding the national senior team back to Africa’s biggest football competition.
The Belgian led Uganda to the 2025 AFCON showpiece after missing out on the 2021 and 2023 final events.
Despite Uganda Cranes no show in the defeat to South Africa, Mugalu who follows Ugandan football praised Put for his team selections and having an identity during the Qualification campaign.
“It’s great that Uganda qualified for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations but my praises go to Paul Put. I like the way he summons his teams, he calls players on merit.” Unlike his predecessors, Put has given many local based players a chance to showcase their talents. It’s now upon those players to put up performances on the pitch.” The other thing is that nowadays the team has an identity.” Said Mugalu
Mugalu is a staunch fan of KCCA FC and Tanzanian Giants Simba SC.
Put and his men will seek to make amends after a 2-0 home defeat to South Africa when they lock horns with Congo Brazzaville on Tuesday in a dead rubber contest.
