Uganda National Netball team, She Cranes suffered defeat to Zimbabwe in their opening game of the 2024 Africa Netball Cup.

Nelson Bogere coached side succumbed to a 50-49 defeat to Zimbabwe on Monday at the MTC Dome in Swakopmund, Namibia.

The She Cranes led the first quarter 14-12 before Zimbabwe rallied back to win the second quarter 13-10 to finish the first half leading 25-24.

She Cranes took the third quarter scoring 15 with Zimbabwe managing 7.

Despite being down, Zimbabwe did not give up and staged a comeback win in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

With two minutes to the end, Zimbabwe scored six goals to clinch a 50-49 win in the final seconds of the entertaining contest.

Uganda who last won the competition in 2018 will return to action on Wednesday against host nation Namibia before facing Eswatini in their final group game on Thursday.

The top two nations in the two groups will prevail to the Semifinals of the competition.
