South Africa edged Uganda’s national netball team (She Cranes) 65-50 to clinch the women’s Africa Netball Cup on Saturday at MTC Dome, Swakopmund in Namibia.
Both sides were seeking a third Africa Netball Cup title with the She Cranes last triumph coming in 2018.
South Africa won the first quarter 16-12 and prevailed to a halftime lead of 30-24.
The South Africans extended their lead in the third quarter with a 50-33 score before sealing their victory with a 65-50.
This is South Africa’s fourth Africa Netball Cup title following their triumphs in 2013, 2019 and 2021.
South Africa also won the men’s title after overcoming Eswatini 60-39.
They cruised to victory after winning all the four quarters in the final 17-12, 32-23, 46-29 and 60-39.
