Waiswa strikes as Vipers edge Maroons to end first round Top

Vipers SC finished the first round of the Uganda Premier league top of the table after their 1-0 win over Maroons at Kitende.

Moses Waiswa scored the all important goal as the Venoms edged the Luzira based side.

In the same match, experienced referee Mashood Ssali officially retired from refereeing.

In the 18th minute, Waiswa gave the hosts the lead from a well struck free kick that was awarded to the retiring Ssali at the edge of the box.

Maroons FC goalkeeper Simon Tamale kept his side in the game on several occasions denying in form Allan Okello and Hillary Mukundane.

Vipers held on to maximum points and ended the first round top with 34 points, four above second placed NEC FC who face off with Mbale Heroes on Tuesday while Maroons FC are 5th with 22 points.
