KCCA FC finished the first round with a comfortable 2-0 win over Mbarara City FC on Tuesday at Kakyeka Stadium.
This was the Kasasiro Boys first ever win league at Kakyeka. Second half goals from Emmanuel Anyama and Etienne Katenga saw the Abdallah Mubiru coached side return to winning ways.
Both sides had decent chances in the first period that ended goalless. Derrick Nsibambi came close in the 27th minute with the goalkeeper to beat but his effort went wide.
In the 33th minute, Mbarara’s Yusuf Makutum forced Mutwalib Mugolofa into a decent save.
The breakthrough finally came in the 56th minute when Anyama gave KCCA FC the lead after being fed by Nsibambi. Katenga doubled their advantage in the 70th minute to put the seal on maximum points.
The result saw KCCA FC finish the first round in third position on 27 points, seven behind leaders Vipers SC. Mbarara City FC on the other hand are just two points above the Red zone in 13th position on 14 points.
