NEC FC ended the first round second on the Uganda Premier league table with a narrow 1-0 win over struggling Mbale Heroes.
Enock Ssebaggala’s first half goal was enough to earn Hussein Mbalangu coached side maximum points.
NEC came into the contest four points adrift of leaders Vipers SC but their hard fought victory see them close the gap to one point.
Mbalangu’s men are second on 33 points while Vipers ended as first round champions with 34 points. In the first round they managed 10 wins, 3 draws and lost only 2 games.
Mbale Heroes who recently suspended their head coach Asaph Mwebaze for 28 days ended the first round bottom on the Uganda Premier league table with nine points.
Mwebaze had replaced Richard Malinga who part ways with the club early in the season. During the first round, they managed just two wins, three draws and lost 10 games.
