The Buganda Kingdom’s Sports, Youth and Arts Minister Robert Serwanga has unveiled the tentative schedule for the 2025 Masaza Cup Tournament.
According to the calendar activity, the 2025 Buganda Masaza Cup competition will kickoff on Saturday 5th July with the final slated for 1st November.
The Masaza Cup is the Kingdom’s premium sporting event and brings together 18 teams that represent all
the Masaza (Counties) of Buganda and is played on a home and away basis in group stages, before teams proceed to the knock-out stages, up to the Final.
During its four months, the tournament that attracts a large fan sees over 104 games played.
Buddu are the current champions following their 1-0 triumph over Kyaggwe in last year’s final that was played at Mandela National Stadium. This was the third time that Buddu emerged as victors following their triumphs in 2016 and 2021.
Gomba are the record competition winners with five trophies (2004, 2009, 2014, 2017 and 2020) and are followed by Mawokota, Bulemeezi and Buddu with three trophies respectively whereas Ssingo are on two.
