Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Joseph Put has confirmed that his team will have at least two friendly matches before the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The Belgian tactician confirmed that his side will face off with Niger on 18th January in Rwanda and also revealed they had contacted reigning CHAN champions Senegal.
“We will play Niger in Rwanda on 18th January, we first had a contact with Senegal but they kept us waiting.” Said Put as quoted by Kawowo Sports.
On the DR Congo friendly, Put didn’t commit himself 100%
“We have contacted DR Congo who are currently in Dubai. I have been talking to FUFA and if we can have visas ready on time, we may play this game on 24th January.”
Uganda has previously featured six times in the CHAN tournament (2011,2014, 2016, 2018, 2020, 2022). The 2024 CHAN will be Co-hosted in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania from February 1st to 28th of the same month while the draw is scheduled for Wednesday, 15th January in Kenya.
