Rugby Player Kayondo Passes on due to concussion

The Uganda Rugby fraternity is mourning the death of Kampani Eagles Rugby Premiership side player Ronnie Kayondo who passed on due to concussion.

Kayondo suffered a concussion during the Men’s Rugby Premiership Game between Kampani Eagles and Buffaloes on Saturday, February 8th at Kyadondo Rugby Club.

Kayondo was pronounced dead at Kampala Hospital on Sunday, 9th February 2025.

The development was confirmed in a joint statement from the Uganda Rugby Union and Kampani Eagles

“The Uganda Rugby Union, Kampani Eagles RFC and the wider rugby community mourn the loss of this promising young player, who had so much to offer. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ronnie’s family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
