Henry Kitegenyi scored a second half winner for Mbarara City in a 1-0 Uganda Premier League victory at Mbale Heroes as Baker Mbowa suffered defeat in his first league game in charge of the struggling club on Thursday.

Kitegenyi headed home from close range in the 80th minute to give the Ankole Lions maximum points in Mbale.

Mbale Heroes came into this contest after replacing their head coach Asaph Mwebaze with Mbowa who made 11 new signings during the January transfer window.

Despite the changes, Mbale Heroes remain at the base of the Uganda Premier league table with nine points they have garnered in 16 games.

Mbarara City FC on the other hand are 10th on the log with 20 points they have so far managed this term.

Meanwhile, NEC FC completed a double over KCCA FC with a narrow 1-0 win while UPDF FC and Kitara FC shared spoils in a goalless draw on Thursday.
