Hussein Mbalangu’s NEC FC completed a maiden double over KCCA FC with a narrow 1-0 win on Thursday at Lugogo.
Enock Ssebaggala early goal saw NEC FC smile to yet another win over the 13 time Uganda Premier league champions.
Mbalangu’s charges also won the first leg meeting 1-0 with former KCCA FC player Muzamir Mutyaba scoring the all important goal.
In the return leg contest, Ssebaggala headed home a quality Atendele Geriga cross to give NEC an early lead in the 9th minute.
Moments later, KCCA FC goalkeeper Mutwalib Mugolofa made a double save to deny Ssebaggala and James Jarieko.
Ashraf Mugume had his effort saved by NEC goalie Hannington Ssebwalunyo with five minutes to the recess.
In the second period, debutant Ibrahim Kasinde had the best chance but was denied a dream goal by Mugolofa.
NEC FC held on to maximum points that saw them close the gap on leaders Vipers SC to one point as they move to 36 points and will next travel to Police FC on Saturday.
KCCA FC struggles continue and will next host leaders Vipers SC on Sunday.
