Egyptian giants FC Masar have unveiled Phiona Nabulime as their latest signing from Women’s Super League champions Kawempe Muslim.
Nabulime was unveiled as a defender and as a direct replacement for her compatriot Shadia Nankya who left the club to join Washington Spirit in USA.
The lanky central midfielder has been deployed as a defender for the national U20 and senior team under the tutelage of Sheryl Botes.
Nabulime leaves Kawempe Muslim after guiding the school side to a FUFA Women’s Super League title last season.
Prior to her stint at Kawempe Muslim at school level, Nabulime also played for Kibuli SS and Masaka SS, and had her breakthrough in the 2021/22 season.
She has had a meteoric rise that saw her feature for the national U17, U18 and U20 before becoming a mainstay on the senior national team.
Her new side FC Masar is also home to Crested Cranes defender Aisha Nantongo who is also her former teammate at Kawempe.
FC Masar will be seeking to defend their league title but also emulating their performance on continental level having won bronze in the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.
