Record Buganda Masaza Cup winners Gomba have landed Simon Ddungu alias Dunga as their new head coach for the forthcoming 2025 tournament.
Ddungu leaves Buddu on top having led them to the 2024 Masaza Cup triumph beating Kyaggwe 1-0 in the final that was played at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.
The move also sees Ddungu return to Gomba whom he led to the 2017 prestigious competition victory when they overcame Shafik Bisaso’s Ssingo in the final.
Last term Gomba had a horrendous campaign as they failed to progress to the knock out stage with their journey ending at the group stage.
Midway into the campaign they part ways with their head coach Frank Mulindwa who was replaced by Nasibu Mukasa.
Ddungu has previously worked with Mawokota (2013 and 2019), Gomba (2017), Buddu (2018), Busiro Mawogola (2020), Ssingo (2021 and 2023) and lately Buddu.
Gomba are previous Masaza Cup winners in 2004, 2009, 2014, 2017 and 2020.
