Mityana based FUFA Big League side Ntugasaze FC, overpowered Calvary Midigo FC 3-1 during their league contest at Mityana Ssaza ground on Sunday.

James Tekakwo broke the deadlock in the 31st minute when he clinically slotted home for Ntugasaze’s opening goal.

With momentum on their side, the hosts controlled the tempo of the game and ensured they went into the halftime breather with a slim 1-0 advantage.

Barely nine minutes into the second half, the match took another twist when Calvary FC’s Stephen Oriokot received a yellow card for fouling in the forbidden area.

Lawrence Kambungu stepped up and expertly dispatched the spot-kick in the 49th minute to extend Ntugasaze’s lead to 2-0 while simultaneously reaching a personal milestone of 10 goals for the season.

In the 55th minute, Tekakwo scored his second goal of the match and propelling Ntugasaze to a commanding 3-0 lead.

The visitors were awarded a penalty in the 75th minute with Lawrence Olaboro cutting the deficit with a well converted penalty.

Olaboro’s goal saw his goal level with Kambungu on the FUFA Big League top scorers chart both with a total of 10 goals.

Ntugasaze held on to a well-deserved 3-1 win that lifted them from the relegation zone as they moved from 12th to 11th position while Calvary Midigo FC are in 5th place.

With this morale-boosting victory behind them, Ntugasaze FC now turns its focus to an upcoming clash against Onduparaka FC in Arua. The last time the two sides met in Mityana, the contest ended in a 1-1 stalemate. Onduparaka are currently struggling after suffering four consecutive defeats.
