FUFA Big League side Kataka FC have eliminated URA FC from the Stanbic Uganda Cup courtesy of a penalty shoot out at the Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
Kataka won 5-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw at full-time and subsequently booked a berth in the tournament’s quarter finals.
Abraham Tusubira broke the deadlock in the 81st minute of the game with a well converted penalty but Rahman Maloba equalized for Kataka two minutes later to send the contest into a post match shoot out.
Kataka FC keeper Ronald Nsubuga made the crucial difference as he saved Joshua Lubwama’s penalty to inspire a 5-3 win for his side.
Emmanuel Kulanga, Mohammed Biafulo, Stephen Namaisi, Richard Lempani and Saul Bugoma scored all the five penalties for the Mbale based club.
Olimi Nyarwa, Tusubira and Emmanuel Oketch scored for the Tax Collectors.
Defeat implies that the Tax Collectors will yet again endure another trophy-less season with their last silverware dating back in 2014.
UPDF FC were another Uganda Premier League side to be eliminated on the evening after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Big League side Kaaro Karungi in Ntungamo.
