Record Uganda Premier league champions SC Villa are set to lose their captain Ronald Ssekiganda at the end of this season.
The Uganda Cranes midfielder has been with the Jogoos since 2019 and has been a mainstay in the subsequent years.
Ssekiganda’s contract at SC Villa expires at the end of this season and will be free to speak to other clubs and is unlikely to be short of offers with Rwanda’s APR among those interested in his signature.
The midfielder missed SC Villa’s 1-0 win over Vipers on Saturday due to injury and has featured in 14 league matches this season for the reigning champions, scoring once and providing five assists.
Last season, he played an integral role for SC Villa as they won the record extending 17th league title, scoring three goals and six assists in 26 appearances.
Ssekiganda has 11 national team caps, having made his debut last year and was key in Cranes AFCON qualification campaign.
He joined SC Villa from Kampala Regional side CATDA and also featured for Bulemeezi in the prestigious Buganda Masaza Cup where he won the 2019 edition. He was also named the 2019 MVP following Bulemeezi’s 1-0 win over Busiro in the Masaza Cup final.
